Life is full of changes. Some planned some very unexpected. I've had my fair share of both. Recently I've seen change on the distant horizon, and have been making plans and the necessary adjustments to prepare. Then in an instant that distant horizon hit me in the face. And here I am along with my family--my wife, children and their families--caught off guard. The beginning is difficult to pin point. Where we come out on the other side we do not know. For now we make adjustments striving to find a new normal.

I put in my notice last month to transition out of my role at Lincoln SDA Credit Union into another job I could do from home. I needed to spend more time with my wife and some unknowns around her future health. In the last couple weeks, her recovery from COVID (and now "long covid" with covid pneumonia) has progressed and increased her need for immediate support. What was going to be a slower transition out of the credit union while they looked for my replacement, is now an instant need for me to do my work remote.

I have enjoyed my time working there these last 7 1/2 years. It was not an easy decision to move on, but I know at home is where I need to be. Members, thank you for your understanding and patience as I try to continue supporting you remotely until a full-time person is hired and trained. Friends and family, thank you for your encouragement and support.

Rebekah Steward is a senior Exercise Science major at Union College. She started at the credit union because she values working for and with Adventists and saw an opportunity to learn new skills. Over the past few months she has learned more about financial decision making and how that can affect one’s future, “As a student, I get to use all this knowledge to benefit my financial future and make wiser decisions”. She enjoys working with Norman and learning about the credit union and what it has to offer. She values the members and looks forward to learning more about them and being able to help them on their financial journey.
